For Surf Lifesavers to meet their club requirements.
NZQA unit standards:
- 6402 Provide basic life support
- 6401 Provide first aid.
- 6400 Manage First Aid in an emergency situation + additional Surf Lifesaving required information
Prerequisites: Current SLSNZ member, 14 years of age
Duration 2 days
This course covers the follow topics:
Assessment of emergency situation, basic life support, soft tissue injuries, bleeding, shock, fractures and head injuries, hypothermia, asthma, oxygen delivery systems, burns, and basic drowning physiology.
This course meets the requirements of Surf Life Saving New Zealand
